News Release – Launch of RPS Digital Imaging Group South East Centre
The RPS South East Region is launching a new digital imaging group centre. The text below is from their News Release:
STEVEN LE PREVOST TO LAUNCH SOUTH EAST CENTRE
The RPS Digital Imaging group is proud to announce the launch of the new DIG Centre for the South East of England on Sunday 1 October at the Weald of Kent School in Tonbridge, Kent.
We are particularly delighted that the speaker for this very special event will be Steven Le Prevost FRPS, AFIAP, MPAGB, FIPF, from Guernsey. Further details and bookings can be reserved in advance by emailing Barrie Brown at email@example.com. Ticket prices for the day are £6 for DIG members and full-time students, £9 for other RPS members and £12 for Non-RPS Members. A limited number of tickets will be available on the day, but the prices will then be £8, £12 and £15 respectively, so make sure you email Barrie now to reserve your ticket at the lower advanced-booking price. If you would like to find out more about the speaker, go to www.stevenleprevost.com/ .
The launch of the South East Centre will come as welcome news to around 150 DIG members living in Kent, East and West Sussex and the outer London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Croydon. In addition to the many other benefits of DIG membership, they will now be able to attend DIG events locally instead of having to travel long distances to other neighbouring DIG Centres. The South East Centre aims to organise around four big events a year with big-name speakers, locating them across the South East – Tonbridge, North and East Kent and the Hastings/Eastbourne areas on the south coast.
A programme of other notable speakers is already being planned for 2018 – including Polina Plotnikova on Sunday 14 January and Margaret Salisbury and John Herlinger on Sunday 8 April – put these dates in your diary now – further details will follow. The South East Centre will also be arranging regular photographic field trips in the region, hopefully joining forces with local members of other RPS Special Interest Groups.
The launch of the South East Centre has been made possible by the hard work, enthusiasm and determination of a small group of local DIG members. Bruce Broughton is the Centre Organiser and Barrie Brown, Treasurer. The other members of the group are Carole and John Lewis, Jan Beasley and Chris Hennessey. More volunteers are urgently needed to get the Centre fully up and running, however, so, if you live in the South East and would like to take part in helping set up this exciting new venture, please let Bruce know by emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org, even if you are not a DIG or (even) RPS member yet.
We are also very pleased to announce that the launch event on 1 October is being sponsored by Fotospeed. There will be a raffle with generous support from Epson, Peak Design, Permajet, Hahnemuhle and Fotospeed as well as the RPS – more than a thousand-pounds worth of prizes in fact! Representatives from Epson and Fotospeed will attend the event.
To reserve your ticket for 1 October, and for further information about the launch event, email Barrie at email@example.com.
